Back to it with some new ideas

With the first 2 chapters and the beginning of chapter 3 of Galatians in mind:
Do you struggle with being justified by faith and not the law? Is the problem only a Jewish one? If not how is it still plaguing the church?

  1. Yeah with regards to the first question I think that everyone struggles with being justified by faith rather than the Law at times. The reason I say this is that I personally find myself doing things to please people rather than to please the Lord. Obviously this is a problem because pleasing men isn't what we are called to do.

  2. As to the second part of the question, I don't believe that the problem is only amongst the Jews. I believe that the problem extends throughout all of humankind. I think that it's just human nature to want to please others rather than striving to please the Lord because nobody wants to be rejected by others.

  3. is it only others though? I think I see a lot of Law Kepping as a result of trying to feel like you are "Ok" with God for example maybe someone dosent read the Bible like they should so they come to all 4 services at church to kind of make themselves feel ok about it.

  5. I think we tend to think that we are saved by grace and then we are sanctified by Holy living. That is not true. We are saved by the work of the spirit and then sanctified by the work of the Spirit. We tend to mess up in justification by law and then probably more commonly sanctification by law. Does that make any sense?

  6. Yeah. I think that we as Christians get so caught up in "holy" living" that we forget that it is God the Spirit that sanctifies us not we ourselves.

  7. I think that it's definitely still plagueing the church because of what I have previously stated. The fact that many Christian's faith is works based rather than Christ based. I know that I struggle with this very thing sometimes and it takes effort to get myself back in the correct mindset.
